Bookwala is developed and maintained by Archstone Solutions Inc. — a software company building thoughtful tools for everyday life.
Welcome to Bookwala. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Bookwala mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Archstone Solutions Inc. ("we," "us," or "our").
By downloading, accessing, or using Bookwala, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Bookwala. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2.1 Anonymous Use
You may use Bookwala without creating an account ("Anonymous Mode"). In Anonymous Mode, all data (including your library logs, ratings, reviews, and private notes) is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain server backups for anonymous accounts. If you delete the application, clear app cache/data, or lose your device, your data cannot be recovered by us.
2.2 Signed-In Accounts
If you register an account using email/password or third-party authentication (Google, Apple, or X), your library data and user profile are synced to our servers. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activities conducted under your account.
3.1 Content Ownership and License
You retain ownership of any book reviews, ratings, notes, and other content you post ("User Content"). By publishing User Content marked as public (such as public reviews or shared collections), you grant Archstone Solutions Inc. a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely to operate and promote the Service. Private notes remain strictly private and will not be displayed to other users.

Public User Content is reactively moderated. We do not pre-screen all reviews or posts before they appear on the Service. However, we reserve the right to review, flag, or permanently remove any User Content that violates these Terms, and to suspend or terminate accounts engaging in repeated violations.
4.1 In-App Deletion
You may delete your account at any time within the application by navigating to Settings -> Delete My Account, or by submitting a request to privacy@bookwala.ca.
4.2 Grace Period and Reactivation
Upon initiating deletion, your account enters a 30-day soft-deletion grace period. Public profiles and reviews are immediately hidden from other users. Logging back into your account before the 30-day window expires will automatically cancel the deletion request and restore access to your account. After 30 days, your data is permanently purged from our primary production databases.
4.3 Security & Abuse Prevention
If an account is suspended or banned for terms violations prior to a deletion request, we reserve the right to retain cryptographic hashes (e.g., SHA-256 hashes of email addresses) strictly to enforce bans and prevent platform abuse.
Bookwala contains referral links to various third-party retailers. If you click these links and purchase books, we may earn an affiliate commission at no additional cost to you.
We do not control and are not responsible for the pricing, availability, fulfillment, privacy policies, or terms of any third-party websites. Your interactions with third-party merchants are strictly between you and the respective merchant.
The Service, including its code, designs, logos, graphics, and trade names, is the exclusive property of Archstone Solutions Inc. and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the application.
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Archstone Solutions Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages—including loss of data, loss of goodwill, or service interruption—arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above or via an in-app banner. Your continued use of Bookwala after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
